ParrotDog release Radler. NICE.
It’s been a long hot summer in Wellington and the Matts have been flat out in Lyall Bay coming up with some fresh ideas. From tomorrow their new tipple Radler will hit the shelves, just in time for the last of the 2018 heatwave.
Speaking from his nice deck chair in their Lyall Bay brewery, owner Matt Kristofski said he really enjoyed radlers when he was a younger man and wondered why there were none available in the current craft beer market “Wouldn’t it be nice if someone made a Radler, it's just so um...nice"
But some industry insiders fear that a lawsuit could be coming their way in the form of a cease and desist letter from Dominion Breweries. Their successful pitch and ownership of the term “Radler” caused much outrage among New Zealand’s craft beer community several years ago. When asked about Dominion Breweries exclusive rights to use the term “Radler” Kristofski said he was unaware of such an issue, “I’ve not heard anything about DB’s hold on Radler, it sounds complicated and it’s news to me”
“I think we should all just try something new” he continued.
